Just a few of our Spanish teachers in Cornwall

Mrs Kayleigh S

I am a successful Head of MFL in a diverse, challenging inner-city school in Newport that delivers Spanish from KS3-KS5. This has given me a breadth of understanding in helping students to achieve their potential in Spanish. I therefore also have an excellent understanding of exam requirements across key stages. This, coupled with being an AQA examiner in GCSE Spanish, ensures that my knowledge is always up-to-date and continually improved. I have a proven track record of excellent outcomes, particularly at GCSE level, with 50%+ of my students consistently achieving A-A* at GCSE each year (in a school where average GCSE results are 65% A*-C). My expertise lies in improving writing and oracy skills, with tried and tested strategies allowing my students to gain confidence in these areas and feel accomplished in their achievements.

I have travelled around the world teaching adults and teenagers, whilst learning new languages and perfecting the ones I know along the way. I worked at a top language school in Madrid, Spain and became fluent in Spanish. I later returned to the UK to complete a PGCE and have worked in British schools teaching modern languages and Welsh to key stages 3, 4, and 5. I am able to teach through both Welsh and English. My travels, experience, and studies mean that my lessons are linguistically-rich but also inform about culture and country-specific customs. I am up-to-date with various syllabuses but also individualise lessons to meet the specific requirements of the student. Teaching languages for me is a joy and I aim to transfer this passion for languages to those I teach.
