Just a few of our Science teachers in Somerset

Mr Saleh U

I have been teaching science since September 1997 in a both state and independent schools. During this time I have held progressive responsibilities ranging from Teacher to Head of Department, allowing me not only to develop my pedagogy but also to develop the direction and ethos of the science department I have worked in. I have taught KS3 and KS4 Biology, Chemistry and Physics and KS5 Chemistry. It is my belief in the unwavering potential of every child, and that all students can and should learn to think scientifically, questioning the world around them and making informed decisions in an increasingly technological society.

SUBJECTS TAUGHT:
Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics
Qualifications:
PGCE Secondary Chemistry, Goldsmiths College (1997). BSc (Hons) Analytical Science, Greenwich University (1995).

Mrs Jane S

I am an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher and have taught in a wide variety of education establishments including comprehensives, boarding schools, a sixth form college, and a field study centre. Having taught in so many places, I am very flexible regarding exam boards. My A level experience includes AQA and OCR, and I was scientific editor for the new international Cambridge A level biology book. My GCSE experience includes AQA and Edexcel, and I’ve also written 21stC Science (OCR) content for BBC Bitesize and Kerboodle. I have marked and/or written exam questions for A level and GCSEs since 1986. Most students know more facts than they think they do, but they need help weaving them into a narrative that makes sense, and that demonstrates their understanding in exams. I use exam questions to help students pinpoint areas of weak understanding and help them to fill in the gaps. This problem-solving approach is at the heart of what science is, so in the process they develop as scientists.

Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, 13+, School Entrance Exams
