Just a few of our Science teachers in Hertfordshire

Ms Julie L

With 22 years of teaching experience in both the US and the UK, I am an experienced educator and have worked with a great variety of abilities and age levels. I have taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, STEAM and Forensic science in both New York and London. My approach to teaching is one of caring and fun, it is my priority to understand each student`s unique learning style and help them find the best methods to learn and retain material. Student comprehension is paramount to me and I will often go the extra mile to achieve the desired results. In addition to teaching Science, I like to think of myself as a bit of a Renaissance woman, interested in a great many things such as art, music, sports, robotics and cooking. These varied interests help me connect with my students and explain concepts using ideas and analogies they can understand.

Mr Michael P

I am a science teacher with a specialism in physics but teach all sciences from Year 7 to 11. I teach physics up to A-level and sometimes teach maths up to GCSE. I have tutored for over 5 years, including 2 years as a full time tutor. I have also taught in secondary for over 4 years. I generally teach with a traditional style, emphasising the progression from basics through to mastery. However, I do build in opportunities to explore the topics using discussion as tutoring presents a unique opportunity to gently develop students' understanding in such a personalised way. My students enjoy my lessons. They are stretched beyond what they otherwise would be in school as they have individualised support and know they can push themselves and will be guided well even if they make mistakes. I have helped many students reach their aims, including students desperate to get a pass and students who want to secure top grades.

Qualifications:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Brighton University (2016). MEng Material Science and Engineering, Queen Mary University of London (2014).
