I am currently a secondary school science teacher. I teach all three sciences to GCSE and Biology to a level. I have worked in different types of schools so have built great knowledge of how to work with students from lots of different backgrounds. I have also spent time working in a boarding school for students who come over from the Middle East. Working in different types of schools has afforded me the experience to adapt my teaching style to work for the student infront of me.

I am a qualified and experienced Head of Chemistry with 10 years of experience teaching in State and Independent Schools, now tutoring full time. I have many hours of experience working online with students of all abilities some of whom have been stretching for top grades, others who have simply needed a good pass to enable the next stage of their careers. I teach Chemistry at all levels through to GCSE, IGCSE and A level, across all the major Exam Boards. I am an A level Chemistry OCR Senior Examiner. I also support preparations for Oxbridge and have extensive experience coaching students for medical school interviews. My preferred software at the moment is Zoom with Microsoft OneNote as a note-sharing platform but this can be adapted to suit. Before teaching, I worked for 20 years as a Project Leader for Pfizer and GSK designing novel pharmaceutical drugs for a variety of human diseases and am the co-inventor of the HIV drug Maraviroc.

Home tutoring over a digital platform can be a great way to boost your child's confidence and ability whilst away from their usual classroom environment. I am offering tutoring online for primary school pupils or children of an older age who need a confidence boost for when they return to school. I use a digital learning environment to my advantage to make the sessions interactive and fun. I use Zoom as standard, but I am happy to adapt to other platforms that parents feel comfortable with. I can help children with home learning tasks they have been set or additional teaching to assist with any areas they would like additional support with. By building trust and confidence, I am able to guide children through more challenging work without the fear of failure. Over the years, I have built up a range of teaching strategies and resources to support children's learning that suits the individual. By taking the time to find out what the child's goals and motivations are, I can then tailor the lessons to suit their needs.
