Miss Shuhara Z

I am 28 years old, and a qualified Secondary Maths Teacher, currently in a role as a Director at the King Edwards Trust with a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham. I was previously a Lead Practitioner in Maths. I have been tutoring for several years, focusing on mostly secondary age students but I have also supported adult learners towards GCSE qualifications and Year 6 students in preparation for Sat's. I've worked with a range of students turning around those who are below their target grade, as well as challenging high achieving students. I can cater for students at the foundation and higher tier with a history of positive outcomes over the years. I also have an enhanced DBS Check. I have a lot of experience tutoring online, both one to one and to groups of students. I use an interactive tablet which allows me to write and annotate diagrams/working out so students can be as close to an in person experience as possible.

SUBJECTS TAUGHT:
Maths
Qualifications:
PGCE Mathematics, Birmingham City University (2016). BSc (Hons) Mathematics, University of Birmingham (2015).

Mr David B

I am a qualified teacher with 18 years of teaching experience in both the Local Education Authority and independent schools. I am currently Deputy Head at a local Prep school, as well as Head of Mathematics. I have been a specialist upper key stage two / lower key stage three maths teacher for the past seven years and have considerable experience in preparing children for their common entrance exams (11+). I am 52 years old and am married with two grown-up daughters. I have a good understanding of the obstacles that children encounter when learning maths. To gain fluency in the subject I believe that children need to have an understanding of the 'why' of maths, rather than simply memorising procedures. This understanding will help them to make connections across the maths curriculum giving them confidence and a stronger foundation in the subject.

SUBJECTS TAUGHT:
Primary, Maths, 13+, School Entrance Exams, Common Entrance, 11+, SATs
Qualifications:
Qualified Teacher Status. BA (Hons).

Miss Julie W

I have been teaching for six years and I am an examiner and moderator for OCR examination board. I have experience of numerous examination specifications across KS3 through to KS5. I am also a mentor of GCSE foundation Math. I am friendly and approachable and have high expectations for each of my learners. I will improve knowledge and confidence using a variety of resources, teaching and learning approaches and examination techniques to ensure best outcomes.

SUBJECTS TAUGHT:
Maths, Business, Computer Science, IT Skills
Qualifications:
QTS Computer Science (2015), PGCE Computer Science (2015), BA (Combined Hons) English and IT, Newman University Birmingham (2014). HND Business Studies (1992)

Dr Michael T

I am currently a member of the senior academic leadership team at one of Britain’s leading independent educational institutions, where I hold the post of director of the International Baccalaureate. The school has received several awards for the program I direct and I was recently awarded the “Outstanding Educator Award” from the University of Chicago for teaching. I began my academic career reading physics at the University of Manchester. I graduated with a first-class honours and a university prize, and subsequently a PhD. The students I teach (and departments I run) have all seen unprecedented success in absolute and value-added terms. I have been a private tutor for students for well over a decade, teaching physics and mathematics at (I)GCSE, A-level, IB, Oxbridge entrance and undergraduate. As well as preparation for exams, I can support students with coursework, university applications and interview technique. I am happy to teach and have experience with all ability ranges.
