I am a well-qualified and experienced teacher who has worked in the following sectors: secondary schools, home tuition for children out of school KS2-4, freelance tutoring in maths to higher level GCSE/OCR AS, further education and adult education. Students can become frustrated if they can't make sense of the mathematics they are expected to master. Using strategies that encourage and develop the creative talents and thinking skills all learners already possess, I aim to help all students get back on track, so they can develop confidence in their own powers. I have SEN experience including tutoring children with dyslexia, those on the autistic spectrum and children with SEMH issues such as anxiety.

I came into teaching after working in the electronics/telecoms industry as a Design Manager and Project Manager. I have obtained a variety of industry qualifications, the highest being a Masters in Business Administration. I qualified as a teacher of ICT in 2003 but always worked across subjects teaching both ICT and Physics and Maths in a challenging school in the North West of England for 9 years. I relocated to Oxfordshire in 2012. After 15 months in a private college in Oxford teaching international students who continued onto a British University after their studies at A level. I decided to return to the state sector in an outstanding school in Berkshire teaching Science, Maths and A level Physics. I have found it immensely enjoyable working one to one or with small groups that enable me to get to know my tutees strengths and their areas of improvement.
