Has taught PSHE and been a form tutor, and enjoys volunteering at a care home, fundraising for a youth football team, and hosting foreign students from a local language school.

Mrs Joanna W

Qualified and experienced Primary school teacher, with a degree in Management Science (University of Warwick 1994). Trained (University of Hertfordshire 2007) and taught in an Outstanding Primary across KS1 and KS2 (focus KS2) for 11 years. Gaining experience in KS1 teacher assessment, phonics, and SEN. I began teaching as an LSA focusing on autism. As a class teacher I taught children with ASD, dyslexia, hearing impairments, and took statemented children on Residential in KS2. I tutor in the core subjects across the Primary age range and can help prepare children for 7+ and 11+, whether it be to challenge learners, or to provide 1-1 support. Tailoring my teaching to meet individual needs, inspiring a love for learning, encouraging a growth mindset, and boosting confidence and self-esteem. Since January 2020 I have taught both adults and children EFL online. Summer 2021-Current; tutoring in Upper KS2 as part of COVID catch-up. I am a fully qualified maths teacher with 10 years experience both classroom teaching and tutoring. I currently work 2 days a week in a mainstream secondary school and tutor for the remainder of the week. My fortae is working with struggling students, I have a way of explaining tricky topics that breaks methods down into manageable chunks. My favourite part of teaching is hearing students say they finally understand and enjoy maths.
