Mr Ian S

I am a very experienced, qualified Maths Tutor. who works successfully with students in Key Stage 3 and 4 across all the major exam boards and a number of adults. I am very patient. build confidence and work to make maths a more friendly subject. Even students whose basic maths is good get confused by or misinterpret long or wordy questions and often run away from them. I, therefore, especially work on showing how to read, interpret and approach long or wordy questions to ensure that students get points from them, even if they cannot finish them. I also explain connections between ideas and something about their origins to those who are interested. This can reduce sheer memorising and increase understanding. I work well with those with maths anxiety, autism, dyslexia and other .learning differences. Currently, I am teaching online only, and am available at a variety of times. I use Zoom and an electronic teaching platform called Bitpaper.

BSc (Hons) Maths, University of East Anglia. Certificate in Post Compulsory and Further Education, University of Warwick.
