Ms Tracey L

Hello, I'm Tracey. Before joining Teachers To Your Home, I worked as a teacher for over 20 years - in secondary schools, where I was in charge of English and Languages, and then as a centrally employed tutor for the local council, providing specialised one to one tuition. I love my subject - I'm fascinated by how we use (and mis-use!) language and I hope I pass on some of my enthusiasm to my students. I've been told that I'm good at explaining and at coaxing responses out of students who maybe don't have confidence in their own abilities but I'll let you be the judge of that. During my career, I have taught both young people and adults and am competent to use SEN and EAL techniques when appropriate. I also mark for GCSE, so I know what examiners are looking for in students' responses. I've done a lot of online teaching recently and this has enabled me to develop strategies that allow students to get the best from this type of learning although obviously it's nice to work face to face when I can.

SUBJECTS TAUGHT:
English, Maths, Spanish, English Language, English Literature
Qualifications:
BA (Hons), Birmingham University (1996). PGCE, Manchester Metropolitan University (1997). Additional PGCE Maths, Keele University (2014).

Some experience of working as an examiner for AQA A Level . I have recently retired so I have availability during the day if required. My focus is on building students' confidence, developing their historical skills and practice in structuring and answering examination questions.
