I decided to became a science teacher when I was 14 years old and that is what I have been doing since I concluded my teaching degree at the University of Lisbon in 2003. I Moved to London in 2013 and since then, I have been teaching biology to 6th form students and Science to secondary school students. I started work in UCL Academy in 2015 and in 2018 I become the Head of Biology of the UCL Academy in Camden. At Key Stage 4 I have successfully developed and delivered Double and Triple Science. Nearly 80% of my current timetable is A Level teaching, which is testament to my current school trusting me to deliver good quality teaching and results. My most recent ALPS score for my two A level classes was 2 with 74% of students on track to achieve A*-B grades. During my time as head of biology I have been responsible for creating and developing all the resources for biology from KS3 to KS5, as well as all of the biology assessments at KS4 and KS5.

Miss Mara G

Hello, I am a qualified and experienced Primary Teacher of nine years. I completed a degree in Key Stage 2/3 education, specialising in science. I love teaching, and it’s at the core of everything I do. Prior to completing my degree, I worked with children in nursery and after school clubs. I am currently the Creative Arts leader and full time Year 1 teacher at a primary school in Wandsworth and have ample experience in teaching pupils, including those with SEN and EAL. I have taught in Years 1 - 6 throughout my career and know level 1 and 2 BSL having worked in a hearing support facility. I have also taught in years 7, 8 and 9 teaching the three sciences. I have taught Chemistry in seven senior schools. In 1987, I was appointed Head of Chemistry at Carshalton High School in Sutton in Surrey. Whilst studying for my MA in Education at the Open University, I was appointed to be Head of Science at Walsingham School in London. I moved to the independent sector and I taught science at Homefield Preparatory School for 10 years. I joined the science staff at St. John’s School in Leatherhead. In 2006, I was appointed Head of Chemistry at Reed’s School in Cobham, Surrey. When I stepped down from the position in 2017, the department had doubled in size. I continued to teach Chemistry at Reed’s part-time until August 2020. I taught A level AQA and Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry. In the last academic year I have been tutoring online recently tutoring OCR B, AQA/Edexcel/OCR A at A -Level and AQA and Edexcel at GCCS and IGCSE. I have been appointed as an examiner of Cambridge International A-Level and Edexcel A-Level.
