I am currently a fully trained primary school teacher and now have 6 years worth of experience teaching years 1 all the way to year 6. I have been a tutor for 4 years and have helped multiple children achieve academic goals and success with closing their gaps, passing SATS and entrance exams. I mainly tutor maths, writing and reading comprehension and skills. Teaching is a second career for me; I was a project manager, who decided that my calling in life was to teach! I have taught abroad in Sri Lanka and now have a PGCE and QTS qualification in the UK. I have a passion for reading and drama and get excited to see the engagement of children in these subjects. In my spare time, I thoroughly enjoy yoga, swimming, eating and doing as many outdoor activities as possible!

After teaching full time for many years , since having my own children - I now teach part time as a class teacher at a local primary school, teaching across the school from Foundation, KS1 and KS2. I teach across the whole curriculum, covering all subjects. This year, I regularly teach Foundation, Year 3 and Year 6. I enjoy being resourceful and building a good rapport with children, to help them progress in the best possible way. I have seen from the school where I teach, the impact of lockdown upon children's learning, along with the impact of the current Covid restrictions upon normal classroom routines.

I help KS3 & GCSE students to succeed without struggling. I do this by focusing on four key areas.. Reading comprehension. Punctuation, grammar and vocabulary. Analysing other writers’ work. Writing fiction and non-fiction. Sessions are a mixture of writing, analysis and studying new concepts. Students are encouraged to have fun and let their imaginations soar through writing engaging stories and reading books by authors that they like! I’m an experienced teacher with 6 years in formal education, teaching all levels of English and supporting: those that struggle, those that excel and those that are somewhere in the middle and would like to improve. I believe English should be fun, expressive and correct. Students progress by learning and re-learning key skills in a repeating study cycle that reinforces abilities until the point where they are second-nature.

Subjects: English, English Literature, English Language
