Catrina is a qualified, special needs teacher and experienced SENCO. She qualified with a secondary PGCE in German and History 21 years ago and worked as a modern languages teacher and then Head of German. It was whilst in this post that she met a year 8 student who changed her life. His name was Colin and he had autism and global delay. It was through her interactions with him, whilst teaching French that Catrina first became interested in his unique way of seeing the world. That was 18 years ago. Ever since this teaching and learning experience, Catrina has endeavoured to do all she could to support inclusion for children and young people on the autistic spectrum. This has included working with a number of special and mainstream settings supporting children aged 2 - 18. In 2014 she completed a Masters in Autism. Catrina is passionate about inclusion and continually researches a way to promote this in mainstream settings. She also works to support private students with ASC and related needs.
