I have had a varied and enjoyable career as a teacher in a wide variety of settings during which I have taught children from Reception to Year 11. I have always taken a particular interest in working with students with anxiety , SEMH and SEND. I have a wide experience in tutoring students both face to face and remotely from Year 4 to Year 11, this has included 1:1 and small groups. My students come from a wide range of educational back grounds including home educated, LAC , EAL and alternative provision. I have a calm and humorous approach which helps put students at ease ; I like to work with the students interests and leaning styles. I have been working with students to develop confidence and enjoyment in their learning. A key interest of mine is plugging gaps in learning as well as exam preparation for example 11+, SATS preparation, common entrance and maths GCSE.

Mrs Amy H

Teacher of Maths for 22 years; teaching mainly Key Stage 3 and GCSE. Examiner and now team leader for Edexcel and an approved Advanced Skills Teacher. Lots of past experience in tutoring face to face and also online now thanks to the pandemic. Would also be happy to teach online to support learning whilst students are not at school either homeschooling or unable to attend school. My part time teaching hours would make this particularly suitable as I could commit to daytime sessions in the week. As a Mum of two, evening lessons are possible but need to be scheduled around our children’s extra curricular clubs.

Currently I am employed by Riviera English School as Senior Teacher and have worked there for 6 years. Also I periodically teach art evening classes at South Devon College for Adult and Community Learning. In my role as an English teacher I have been fortunate enough to work with learners of all levels, ages and from many different countries. My main focus as an English teacher is Grammar, speaking and pronunciation. Many previous learners have had many different requirements, some need to improve their English to further their career or gain sufficient certificates to go on to university and some learners simply for the enjoyment of the language, in all cases I have delivered the practical and supportive tuition they needed.
