I am a qualified, very experienced Primary teacher and former teacher trainer with a literacy specialism. I have taught in a wide range of schools (EYFS-Y6). I have prepared children for SATs, phonics and tables tests and taught SEN, Y6 English boosters and extension lessons for the more able (Y3-6). For 11 years, I have provided personalised tuition in English and maths (including online). I currently teach 11-16 Chemistry in a independent school and provide tuition in KS3/KS4 Science, A-level Chemistry as well as KS3/KS4/A-level/ Undergraduate Music. I started my career by obtaining a BSc in Chemistry and a PGCE in secondary education and taught for over twelve years in a secondary school in Alton, where I ran the department’s enrichment programme, the KS3 science club and was a coursework moderator. After discovering the Grateful Dead’s music and their unique improvisational style, I turned my attention to music and returned to the University of Surrey to obtain a 1st class BMus in 2016 and a doctorate in 2020 with my thesis The Stylistic Development of the Grateful Dead 1965-1973. During my research, I also obtained a diploma for teaching in higher education. I am also the author of the Children’s story ‘Hello Mr Bow-Tie’ based on the adventures of my cats and is due for publication later in the year.
