I trained as a teacher at Swansea Institute of Higher Education with a specialism in Key Stage 2, PE and Science. Before this, I studied for a Sports Science degree where I qualified with First Class Honours from the University of Wales Swansea. Upon qualifying as a teacher, I moved to London to work in an inner city school in Peckham. I have worked and continue to work there for over thirteen years. Working in every year group in both Key Stage One and Two. In my current role, I am the lower KS2 phrase leader, leading two year groups and a team of 6 class teachers. I am also the science lead and PE leader of the academy. My main strengths include: identifying the specific gaps in a child’s knowledge and the ability to bridge the gap quickly and effectively; an in-depth understanding of the pedagogy in how children learn, and how to cater for my teaching so that each child can reach their potential; experience of working with children with special educational needs as well EAL children.
