Susan is a SEND Consultant and teacher who provides support for SENCOs and School Leaders on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) issues to ensure young people with SEND receive high-quality support tailored to their individual needs so that they meet their potential. She is an experienced SENCO and teacher, having worked for over 30 years in inclusive mainstream secondary schools and a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). While at the PRU Susan conducted baseline assessments and implemented support to enable pupils to return to school. In the past two years, Susan has delivered training on the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and a range of relevant SEND issues to ensure the successful inclusion of pupils with complex educational needs in schools in Stoke-on-Trent and Liverpool. Susan has experience of building the self-esteem of learners helping them to overcome challenges such as ASD, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. In addition, to her SEND specialist tutoring, she a trained Humanities teacher specialising in Religious Studies. For the last 5 years, she has acted as a GCSE examiner for Edexcel Religious Studies Christianity and Islam papers.
