Mr Steven B

Hello prospective student! I have over ten years of experience teaching languages in the northwest of England. I have taught in secondary schools (such as Manchester High School for Girls) and a number of sixth form colleges (Priestley College, Marple Sixth Form College). I teach German, Latin and Classical Greek. I am also able to teach English Language for those students wishing to brush up on grammar, vocabulary, written style and speaking skills. My experience is mainly in the secondary sector, though I am happy to teach older primary students (yr 5/6). I can teach the above languages to complete beginners through to those preparing for exams. The first thing I do is discuss with you the needs of your child and then tailor a specific programme. Feel very free to get in touch for further information or to have a chat about a possible programme of language tuition.

I have taught Mathematics at the University of Bolton for around thirty years and, having retired from full-time teaching, am currently an Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics at the University. I've designed and presented courses in all aspects of maths at various levels, including courses leading to an ‘A’ level equivalent qualification (Polymaths). Most of my teaching has been in the area of classical applied maths as part of the BSc (Hons) programme. My commitment is to excellence in teaching, winning the best lecturer award in the School prior to retirement. I have a strong belief that one-to-one tuition offered with genuine care, enthusiasm and a strong subject knowledge can, by being tailored to an individual’s needs, make a real positive difference. I’m happy to offer GCSE, ‘A’ level Maths and Further Maths or more advanced University work in areas such as differential equations, dynamics, fluid dynamics.

Pupils consistently attain high standards by the end of Year 6. A key feature is the determined leadership of the headteacher who has a very clear sense of direction, correct and imaginative priorities and the energy and will to get things done.
