Mr Alexander W

I am a fully qualified teacher currently working at a highly successful Sixth Form College. My interest in languages was born from an early age, inspired by regular visits to France as well as the opportunity to study French and Russian at University. Having spent extended periods of time in both France and Russia, I have developed fluent written and oral styles in both languages. Since qualifying to teach in 2010, I have worked in both the private and state sectors (Cheadle Hulme School / Oxford High School for Girls), preparing students to sit the GCSE / IGCSE as well as the A level examinations. I have substantial experience in delivering the courses of several examination boards, including AQA, WJEC, Edexcel and Cambridge and have a detailed knowledge of the assessment criteria at both GCSE and A-Level. Each year, I deliver extension classes to students intending to continue their study of languages at University and have successfully prepared numerous students for Oxbridge entry.

PGCE Modern Foreign Languages, Edge Hill University (2011). BA (Hons) French and Russian, University of Bristol (2009).

I'm a qualified teacher with six years of teaching experience, specialising in early Reading, Writing and Maths. I have been tutoring privately now for 8 months, alongside my current role as a Year 1 teacher. I have taught in Year 1 through to Year 4, both in inner city London and more recently in Preston at an Ofsted rated outstanding school. I have led four classes through the national phonics check; each class has achieved higher than national average results. I take a patient and nurturing approach, tailoring my lessons to the needs and interests of every child I teach or tutor. I help children develop confidence and a love for learning, which together with high expectations helps them to make great progress.
