Teaches History from Key Stage 2 through to GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level and also able to teach Politics to A Level and RE, Geography and Sociology to GCSE. For the last two years I have been tutoring primary age children in preparation for 11+ exams as well as private and grammar school entrance exams. I have a 97% pass rate for 11+, Blue Coat, Cheadle Hulme, St Anselms and Upton Hall exams and have also been drafted into to local primary schools to tutor primary age children in Maths, English, History, Geography as well as verbal reasoning and STEAM. Mr Gerard B

I am a qualified Teacher of English Language and Literature to Advanced Level and a graduate of Bristol University’s Honours degree in “Religion with Literature”. My degree has allowed me to also offer Humanities and Philosophy and Ethics courses to Advanced level. I am an ex BBC employee trained in Sound and Video production and have used this in the teaching of Media Studies. I have QTS from 1990 and a current DBS on the update service. I have taught since 1990. In addition to working in mainstream comprehensive, I have worked with Adult Learners as well as running a PRU and an in-school Inclusion unit which has had demonstrable success in school progress levels over time. I am a firm candidate for this position with a clear vision as to how it would develop in the school community. I am sure of this with reference to the wide experience I have developed to date particularly in enthusing and motivating students through organisation, reliability, and consistency.

I am the Head of Humanities and Personal Development at Byrchall High School in Wigan. I have been teaching for over 20 years now in a variety of educational settings. I currently teach both History and Religious Studies to GCSE level. I am passionate about helping young people develop a thirst for learning in both History and RE, and achieve their potential. As Head of Personal Development I also seek to engender a positive mind set in students and encourage resilience, a growth mind set and a lifelong love of learning.
