Ms Rachael L

Qualified and experienced English teacher, with some experience teaching history, and previous experience as a private piano and music teacher. I have a love for literature, and enjoy teaching poetry, helping students with studying novels, and also helping develop creative writing in young people. I have worked with AQA exam board, in both the Literature and Language GCSE papers. In addition I have homeschooled my own children, using Edexcel iGCSE subject, and am familiar with the homeschooling exam process and options. I have taught in catholic schools, worked in a challenging SEND school, and also in mainstream academies.I have also taught history at KS3, and love how English and History so often link with each other.

Qualified and experienced Primary and Secondary teacher/tutor, in addition to adult learning. I am a qualified and experienced teacher of secondary History and English with 23 years of experience across KS3, GCSE and A-Level. I am an examiner for Eduqas (GCSE History) but am also familiar with all major exam boards. I have proven results as Head of a successful History department. In my last set of externally examined results (2019) I worked in a school where only 19% of students gained a Grade 4 in English and Maths. In my cohort of 60 History students, 85% reached Grade 5 and above and 31% of students gained grades 6-9 compared to the national average of 25%. I am experienced with SEN and those for whom English is a second language (TEFL certified)
