After graduating from St Catharine's College, Cambridge, and with a PGCE from Leicester, I enjoyed 40 years at the chalkface, half of them as Headmaster. I have taught Geography, Maths and Economics; and in UK, Switzerland, Russia, China and Azerbaijan. Most of my recent teaching has been KS3 and (I)GCSE Maths, with excellent results, and usually to mixed ability, mixed background and mixed language learners. Since retirement, I have been training teachers abroad, marking O Level and PGCE essays, and doing volunteer work teaching E2L. I am currently tutoring KS3/GCSE Maths to three students. I speak French and rather less Russian and Indonesian. I love travel, cycling, and writing.
