I am a supportive, but focused, qualified teacher in history and politics. My history teaching has focused on the Early Modern and Modern periods: 16th and 17th century Spain, France, Britain and Germany, and the Witchcraze. I transform learners' confidence and knowledge through clear, actionable guidance in engaging, supportive, challenging tutorials. I can also support history coursework - I was a consultant to OCR on the specifications and teaching of the independent research project. This clear, actionable guidance is based on my love for the subjects, my extensive experience and success in the classroom, and a thorough knowledge of how to excel in key exams for all major boards, built on more than a decade of examining for AQA, OCR, Pre-U and IB. I have worked extensively with learners with ADHD, ASD and dyslexia, and enjoy finding ways of building confidence so that learners can excel in every situation.
I am currently a full time Geography teacher at a Grammar School in South Manchester. I have over 8 years teaching experience including both GCSE and A Level. My specialism is in Physical Geography at A Level, however I can and have taught all topics. I can now offer online as well as face-to-face tuition. Additionally I mark GCSE and A Level papers for AQA which gives me an in depth understanding of the requirements for the exam. I am also a Team Leader for AQA, managing other teachers through the marking process and quality checking papers. Working in a Grammar School I have a good understanding of the exam requirements and can offer help with understanding the content and exam technique. I have a degree in Geography (2:1) and a Masters in Environmental Studies. Further to this I have also completed a PGCE in Geography education (distinction). Working with students one to one I can create a bespoke plan in order to most help achieve their target grade.
