Just a few of our Geography teachers in Greater Manchester

Mrs Emma F

I am currently a full time Geography teacher at a Grammar School in South Manchester. I have over 8 years teaching experience including both GCSE and A Level. My specialism is in Physical Geography at A Level, however I can and have taught all topics. I can now offer online as well as face-to-face tuition. Additionally I mark GCSE and A Level papers for AQA which gives me an in depth understanding of the requirements for the exam. I am also a Team Leader for AQA, managing other teachers through the marking process and quality checking papers. Working in a Grammar School I have a good understanding of the exam requirements and can offer help with understanding the content and exam technique. I have a degree in Geography (2:1) and a Masters in Environmental Studies. Further to this I have also completed a PGCE in Geography education (distinction). Working with students one to one I can create a bespoke plan in order to most help achieve their target grade.

Mr Samuel W

I am a fully qualified, experienced Geography, History, and Science teacher based in Nantwich with significant SEND experience. My teaching methodology employs established cognitive science-based techniques, including starting lessons with recall tasks based on previously taught material. This is method is proven to enable learning to enter into long-term memory and not be forgotten as easily. I will then introduce new concepts slowly, frequently referring back to previous learning and real-world examples to aid understanding and build a conceptual schema in the student’s mind. I will ask numerous questions to check for understanding of the topic/concept before moving on. The student will then practise applying their new knowledge to exam questions, with my assistance via a carefully scaffolded framework of support. The ultimate goal is that a student is able to complete similar questions independently with the support framework removed and be able to recall the information at a later date.
