Hello. Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself; my name is Emma. I have been teaching since 2010 and I have been providing private tuition to a range of pupils and families since 2016. I love my job and I especially enjoy my 1:1 sessions as I enjoy building up that close bond and knowledge of what makes that pupil tick. I have worked with pupils ranging from KS1 to KS3 within this time. I am a qualified and experienced Primary teacher and I have taught across the ages and Key Stages and across all core subjects within the new Primary National Curriculum. I also teach English and Maths through to Key Stage 3. One of my strongest areas is supporting in SATs preparation and I have also successfully supported many pupils with their entrance exams of various ages. I have a vast experience with SEN pupils and I assess and monitor my pupils to ensure they are confident in themselves, have a raised self-esteem and a can-do attitude and are making good and steady progress.

Throughout my career to date I have endeavoured to bring great enthusiasm to all of my teaching and tutoring. As a result the vast majority of the students that I have tutored have gained high grades at GCSE and A-level, and most have continued to be successful in their university studies. While studying for my PhD I taught classes for two years to first and second year undergraduates at St. Andrews. I have also taught language classes to adult learners at Reading University Summer School, involving both beginners and intermediate students, and I am used to catering to the needs of students at various stages of their learning. My style is relaxed and I always aim to make learning enjoyable while promoting academic progress. I also encourage active participation and believe in allowing all students to comment constructively on their own progress and the different activities undertaken in lessons and tutorials. I can tutor students in English, French, History, Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Studies.

A highly experienced and encouraging teacher working in Years 5 and 6 in a large, exciting, academic and sporty preparatory school. Having taught Year 1 up to Year 8 during my career, I have enjoyed my jobs in the state, private and international school systems and have a strong grasp of children's needs and expected progress at every step of their formative years. I have been a Maths Co-ordinator, Head of English and a Director of Studies, and my specialist subject is English, which I have taught to scholarship level at 11+ and 13+. Currently, I mark the exam papers of pupils hoping to attend my school and have assessed at 7+. My pupils have won places to a range of independent and public schools near Guildford and across the South East of England. Recently, I have completed specialist training in writing and reading 'at greater depth' and comprehensive spelling training. I look forward to instilling my pupils with skills and a sense of confidence, inspiring them with engaging, targeted, effective teaching.
