Just a few of our English teachers in Nottinghamshire

Mrs Barbara J

I have been a primary teacher for over 30 years. As a class teacher, most of my experience is in Years 2 and 3, although I have also worked in Reception and Year 1. For some years I was a support teacher with children in a mainstream school who had a variety of learning difficulties, and followed them through from Reception to Year 6. My degree is in Speech and Language Therapy and prior to gaining my PGCE, I worked in speech therapy with a paediatric caseload for several years. I have excellent knowledge of language development, of teaching phonics for reading and spelling and of the development of fluency and comprehension skills. I am skilled in carrying out assessments to identify gaps in learning in literacy and maths which are affecting achievement. Based on these assessments, I am experienced in implementing programmes to help children gain a better understanding. I enjoy working one to one and I am a committed and enthusiastic teacher, always doing my utmost to enable children to succeed.
