We are happy with the process so far. Thank you for the support you have given us as a family."

A little more about Maidenhead
Maidenhead is a large town on Berkshire, next to the River Thames. The name Maidenhead probably comes from Maiden Hythe meaning New Wharf, dating from Saxon times; although it is recorded in the Domesday Book as Ellington. The turning point in Maidenhead’s History was in 1280 when a bridge was built across the River Thames, to replace the ferry that had existed previously. This meant it was the major crossing point for the road linking London to the West of England, and saw the growth of the town of Maidenhead. It became a popular stopping point for stage coaches making the journey between Bath and London, which saw the emergence of many Inns and Lodges, including the Greyhound Inn where Charles 1st saw his children for the last time. The current road bridge was built in 1777 but it was the arrival of Great Western Railway which foresaw a rapid expansion of the town. The new brick railway bridge designed and built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and the setting for Turner’s “Rain, Steam and Speed” was finished in 1838 and is still in use today.
The nearby airfield at White Waltham was the Second World War base for the Air Transport Auxiliary, who used pilots deemed unsuitable for the RAF. As a result it had large numbers of women pilots who became the first British Government workers to be granted equal pay for equal work.
Another claim to fame for Maidenhead is that the football team Maidenhead United have played at the same ground continuously since 1871, the longest for any senior club in world football, and were in the first ever FA Cup competition.
Current industries in Maidenhead are telecommunications, software design, printing and pharmaceuticals, in keeping with its position in the M4 silicon corridor.
