I am a fully qualified Primary teacher with 8 years of experience. I left my full-time teaching role in order to fulfil my dream of setting up a business, and know that my skills and outlook on life can be greatly appreciated by children up and down the country. My main area of qualities is upper KS2, as I spent a majority of my teaching life in Y6 preparing for SATs and secondary school. I am hugely passionate about nurturing the whole child - not just preparing for a test. I aim to increase confidence and belief in all the children I interact with and have had many glowing reviews from parents because of this. I believe that having fun is a huge advantage to learning, therefore aim to make my sessions interactive and memorable.
I have worked in post 16 education for 9 years, mainly in teaching young people with special educational needs. I have progressed into middle management but still have a passion for teaching. My specialisms include teaching independent living skills such as personal safety, health, balanced diet, communication and relationships, functional skills English and maths. I grew up with my older sister who has Autism, severe learning disabilities, emotional and behavioural difficulties; and volunteered a lot with her school. My personal experience has shaped my teaching practice and enhanced my delivery, understanding, empathy and knowledge of strategies to support and get the best out of young people.
As a Private Tutor, I teach your child or you as a young adult, at the right level so that they can progress well. Often progress is halted due to missing blocks of learning and it is my job to find these and teach them in a way that your child finds engaging and fun. It might be learning lost due to COVID and lockdowns or it could be an area that they simply find challenging. It could be that they have been recently identified as being on the SEN register or with a specific plan known as an IEP or POP. Whatever the context, I’m confident that I can help, as a qualified teacher since 2009. I have been judged as Good in one OFSTED inspection and Outstanding in 2 others.
