Obtaining PGCE in Secondary English from King's College London, I have a diverse background working in Education. I have experience teaching both KS3/KS4 AQA and Edexcel GCSE English Lit/Lang. Prior to my PGCE, I worked as an English Learning Support Assistant n schools across London, working 1:1 with pupils and offering academic support in English lessons. I see myself as a very enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who enjoys motivating pupils and seeing them progress.
I have spent the past decade teaching English at a number of state and independent secondary schools. I have experience at all levels of English teaching, with a long history of success at 11+ and 13+. I have previously been Head of Year 9 and am the teacher in charge of the Edexcel iGCSE English Language and Literature curriculum in my current post. Over the last five years, my GCSE and iGCSE classes have achieved an average of 90% grades 9-7. I am driven to help students build confidence, empowering them to realise their potential through independent learning. As part of my current role as Head of Academic Projects at a high-achieving London independent school, I am involved in several research projects aimed at developing an approach to teaching that fosters these independent research skills.
