I believe myself to be a bright, engaging and enthusiastic tutor, who has always been fortunate to receive excellent feedback from clients. I gained a BA Hons in Economics and Computing, before gaining a distinction on my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), specialising in Maths and English. I have been teaching for 20 years, and tutoring for 12 years, both 1 to 1 and online. I can offer 1:1 learning support tailored to meet the individual needs of your child. I devise personalised learning programmes with effective, targeted strategies and engaging, practical activities using children's interests and motivations to make the learning fun, identified via an initial assessment. I specialise in Primary Maths and English. I have always also believed in talking to parents and student to identify what the specific needs of the student are, as well as providing students with weekly progress notes and follow up work based on learning objectives. identified via an initial assessment

Andrea J

PGCE University of Reading. BA (Hons) 2:1 Colchester School of Music, Anglia Ruskin University.

Member since 2020 Mrs Andrea J

I have 26 years experience as a teacher. In that time I have worked in a wide variety of both large and small settings from grammar to comprehensive schools, both state and independent. I have tutored pupils in a one to one setting throughout my career as and when time allowed. Unfortunately it has become increasingly hard to “make a difference” in a typical state school environment which is why I have made the decision to focus my time on providing one to one tuition moving forward - whether that’s helping an 11 plus candidate access the school they deserve or ensuring a GCSE English student attains the best grade they are capable of. I believe I have a good understanding of what a pupil’s true potential is. More importantly I have amassed a wide range of tools in my arsenal to enable them to achieve this potential. I entered the teaching profession because I wanted to make a difference. Nothing is more satisfying than taking someone who has been told “they can’t” and showing them that actually “they can”.

Qualified and experienced Primary Teacher with 13 years of classroom experience and 3 years of tutoring experience alongside. I teach all core subjects within the Primary National Curriculum. I have been a recent curriculum lead for English and maths - working to help children build their confidence and drive academic progress. I use a method of teaching called 'The Write Stuff' for English and this has great results due to its engaging themes and teacher pupil-paired writing. I have a record of positive feedback from parents and children with a proven track record in accelerated progress. Full references, DBS certificate and qualifications can be provided.
