Sue S

Qualified Teacher Status.

Member since 2016 Mrs Sue S

I am a qualified teacher having taught all ages over the last 20+ years, working in both the State and Private Sector. As an example, I taught for 7 years at the Abbey School in Reading and more recently at Crosfields, a mixed Prep School in Reading. I therefore have experience of teaching both boys and girls and understand that they may learn in very different ways. I have been tutoring for the last few years preparing children for Grammar School entrance exams (Kendrick and Reading Boys) and other Private School Entrance Tests including Common Entrance at 13. My main tutoring, though, is working with children in order to help them improve their English and Maths Skills. I have taught pupils from KS1 through to KS3 and GCSE Maths Tuition for Foundation level.

Subjects: English, Maths, Business, Computer Science, EFL or ESL, 13+, IT Skills, School Entrance Exams, English Language, Common Entrance, SATs, Study Skills, English Literature, 11+

Rod F

PGCE Cambridge University. PhD Latin Literature St. Andrews University. MLitt (with Distinction) St. Andrews University. BA (Hons) Classics, Bristol University.

Member since 2020 Dr Rod F

Throughout my career to date I have endeavoured to bring great enthusiasm to all of my teaching and tutoring. As a result the vast majority of the students that I have tutored have gained high grades at GCSE and A-level, and most have continued to be successful in their university studies. While studying for my PhD I taught classes for two years to first and second year undergraduates at St. Andrews. I have also taught language classes to adult learners at Reading University Summer School, involving both beginners and intermediate students, and I am used to catering to the needs of students at various stages of their learning. My style is relaxed and I always aim to make learning enjoyable while promoting academic progress. I also encourage active participation and believe in allowing all students to comment constructively on their own progress and the different activities undertaken in lessons and tutorials. I can tutor students in English, French, History, Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Studies.

Subjects: English, History, French, Latin, 13+, English Language, School Entrance Exams, English Literature, Common Entrance, Greek, Classical Civilisation
