Mr Paul B

I see myself as an enthusiastic and enlightening tutor, having taught for over 20 years, in the role of teacher, lead teacher for English and Deputy Head teacher. For the last 12 years, I have worked with children in Key Stage 2 who are looking to gain higher attainment and greater confidence in both English and Maths. I use activities that challenge children through enquiry and reasoning. The aim, to ensure the child is fully prepared and motivated to tackle all aspects of the curricuum with confidence. I also believe that communication with parents has been key to students I have tutored achieving the best grades. Confidence is the key for a student to succeed.

Miss Rachel G

Hello there, I am a qualified and experienced Primary Teacher (12+ years) who teaches across the Primary Curriculum, including EYFS, Key Stages 1 and 2. I was a class-teacher in Year 6 so can offer preparation for SATs, as well as 11+, Scholarship and School Entrance Exams. In addition to my primary teaching experience, I have also taught Maths & English functional skills (levels 1 & 2) to apprentices at BMET college, using Pearson Edexcel & NCFE exam boards. I believe that every child is capable of achieving and as a teacher I work hard to help them gain in confidence in areas that they struggle with, quite often by going back to basics initially. My approach is to assess where students are at and find out where there are gaps in their learning along with any misconceptions they may have, I will then focus on teaching these areas and build on from there. I am a creative teacher and will present work in a way that appeals to each individual child.

Mrs Victoria P

I am a passionate and dedicated teacher of English with over ten years’ experience of helping students achieve their potential, both in the classroom and as a tutor, in state and private sectors. I have experience across a range of boards, qualifications, ages and abilities: KS2, SATS, Common Entrance, Scholarships, GCSE and A level. I’m hoping to embark on a master’s degree in English next year and therefore am currently just tutoring. As a teacher and mum of four, I feel strongly about fostering an attitude that accounts for the varying pressures on young people nowadays. I focus on developing skills and interests that will last, rather than simply training pupils for an exam. Good relationships between teacher, student and parents are crucial, and I’ve always prided myself on facilitating and achieving these in the past. I offer a personalised and adaptive approach towards tuition, and am passionate about the roles language and literature have in helping young people to navigate our complex world.

Having taught all subjects to children from Year 2 up to Year 8 (13+ CE and scholarship), I have a strong grasp of children's needs and expected progress at every step of their formative years. I have been a Head of English (my specialism), and teach Maths and Reasoning (verbal and non verbal) to primary age children, as well as preparation for 11+ exams. My pupils have gained places at a range of independent schools near Guildford and across the South East. I am also experienced working with children who have Specific Learning difficulties. I look forward to instilling children with skills and a sense of confidence, inspiring them with engaging, targeted, effective teaching so that they take pleasure in learning and experience enjoyment and success.
