MA Social Work, Keele University (2016). BA French and Italian, Oxford University (1994). TEFL, Oxford Intensive School of English (1994)

Member since 2019 Ms Catherine M

I've been tutoring privately for nearly 20 years, doing this alongside a range of other jobs including project management, university teaching, proofreading, translating, interpreting and ghost writing. I offer English, French, Italian and also English as a Foreign Language, and can teach students of all ages from lower secondary school age upwards. Where required I can prepare students for specific exams including GCSEs, 'A' levels and IELTS. I tutor both face-to-face (when we're not in the middle of a pandemic!) and also online. I'm familiar with a variety of online platforms including Zoom, Skype and Teams, and when teaching virtually I also make use of e-mail to send materials back and forth. I enjoy tailoring lessons to the needs of each student and am always happy to answer any questions you might have. It's also no problem to try a lesson or two before deciding whether or not you'd like to continue.

Jane R

Member since 2020 Mrs Jane R

I am a qualified and experienced teacher of English, History and Classical Civilisation. I have taught all these subjects up to GCE level, and also offer preparation for SATs, and 11+/13+ Entrance exams, including Latin where relevant. I teach across the Secondary curriculum, offering Classics, English, History and French, and have also worked with dyslexic pupils (my own children are dyslexic too). Students benefit from my teaching, feeling relaxed and confident with each subject, ensuring success. AQA, OCR and Edexcel are the boards with which I have recent experience. Learning, I believe, can only take place where clearly communicated ideas are fully understood by the learner; this is where I feel my strengths lie. I specialise in exam technique, and have had great success with students who have missed school due to health/anxiety/confidence/disability issues - their grades going up by 2-3 levels.
