Qualified and experienced teacher of English Language and Literature at KS3.KS4 and KS5. I have over 40 years of teaching experience at all levels, including Head of Department and have also been an examiner for AQA, Edexcel and WJEC. I have also taught in a variety of institutions such as secondary schools, Further Education and Adult Education. I am also a qualified counsellor and currently also tutor adults in this subject alongside my work as a Home Tutor. The skills are interconnected in that I understand the need to listen empathically to my students as well as motivate and teach them the necessary skills and knowledge to gain good grades.

Qualified English teacher with over five years experience teaching and tutoring GCSE pupils, particularly those aiming for a grade 4 (a 'pass') or 5 (a 'high pass') in their English Literature and/or English Language examinations. I have worked primarily with the AQA specification, but also tutored students studying the WJEC specification. I have been an exam marker for AQA GCSE Literature Paper 1. Prior to teaching, I supported students with complex special needs in a large inner-city high school (ages 4-16). I am currently a part-time MSc student and have very flexible working hours. I recently finished six years at the School of the Nations in Macau, where I worked as Head of English teaching IGCSE English and I.B. Diploma English Language and Literature. I also taught I.B. Diploma Theory of Knowledge and IGCSE Global Perspectives. In previous years at the school I ran the Social Studies department and was the school`s Social Studies Coordinator at the secondary level. In my spare time I also tutored students for both IGCSE English and History. Before living in Macau, I worked for one year at Telford College of Art and Technology teaching GCSE English and Access English and at New College Telford teaching History A Level. Prior to working at Telford College I studied for an MA in Classics & Ancient History at Exeter University. While I was studying, I tutored a student for an A level course in Roman History. Before this I taught grammar and essay writing to English speaking students at a private school.
