I studied English at University to Masters Level and worked for several years in Preparatory schools both as Deputy Head and preparing children for the 11+ in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning for both State Grammar and Independent Senior Schools. This has involved whole class teaching of the concepts and skills required and one to one modelling of exam answers and practice papers. I now combine my love of writing with my fascination with the world as the Head of Geography in an independent school. I am used to working with pupils at different ability levels and have a strong track record with exam results in English and Geography using various tools, particularly exam answer modelling, to help students achieve the best possible outcomes. My English helps me to support students with the quality of writing overall and specifically writing in Geography.

Subjects: English, Geography, 11+

I am a highly qualified, motivated Teacher of English and Special Educational Needs, with 25 years of experience. I taught at Queens` School, Bushey, Hertfordshire, where I was Deputy Senco, before moving back to my hometown of Doncaster to care for an elderly parent. I love 1-1 and small group work and would love to do a small amount of tuition if possible. I have taught English at Secondary level (11-18) and have a great deal of experience with students who find the curriculum challenging, including teaching at entry level. I have also taught basic numeracy, preparing students to tackle the Foundation Paper at Maths GCSE.
