Mr Stephen S

I am a highly qualified and vastly experienced secondary school English Teacher. I have spent most of my career teaching English in an 'Outstanding' secondary school in Derby. Four years ago, I became a full time self-employed home tutor. I teach English Language and English Literature from Key Stage 2 through to GCSE, across all the major examination boards: AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC. I also prepare students in Years 12 and 13 for their GCSE English Language re-sits. Also, I have a wide and extensive range of SEN experience, particularly students with Autism, ASD and Dyslexia. In addition, when I was Assistant Head of Year in school, I was responsible for mentoring students with a wide range of social and emotional issues. My principal job was to help alleviate students’ anxiety so they felt comfortable to reach their full potential and achieve good grades. I create a calm and purposeful learning environment, which allows the learner to feel comfortable and confident in order to maximise their full potential.

Qualifications:
Qualified Teacher Status; PGCE Secondary English, Nottingham Trent University (2006). BA (Hons) English Literature, University of Derby (2003).
