In particular, I have a thorough understanding of AQA GCSE and A Level English Language and English Literature specifications - working as an examiner for GCSE English Language in particular. Mrs Emily A

Currently, Head of English at Craigowan Prep School in Perth, teaching English to Years 6 - 8 (P6 - S1). I cover the curriculum for excellence curriculum and the Common Entrance syllabus. Previously, I have taught in a number of Prep Schools in London, rural England and Edinburgh. I have taught across the primary age range, from Reception/Primary 1 all the way up to Year 8/S1 with a particular specialism in the teaching of English. I am currently on maternity leave and will not be returning to my role in September as I spend time raising my daughter. Therefore, I am looking for pupils with whom to teach either at home or virtually, either to supplement their schooling or to support home educating.

I have over 25 years experience as a qualified teacher, working mostly at primary level, although in the last few years I have been working as a supply teacher and have worked in secondary schools also. I have also worked as an exam invigilator for GCSE exams. I have experience of teaching year 6 and being involved in assisting children to work towards SATS, both at KS1 and KS2. Additionally, I have knowledge of various phonics programs, including letters and sounds and Read, Write Inc. and have incorporated both when teaching homeschooled children. I have helped young people who are working towards their GCSE's, in Maths, English and the Sciences and have added qualifications in Functional Skills, which allows me to teach adults Maths and English also.
