I am a qualified and experienced teacher of English, currently working at Stoke-on-Trent College. I have experience with all age groups up to GCE level, including SEN. I teach across the Primary sector, and offer preparation for SATs, 11+, Scholarship and School Entrance Exams including Latin where relevant. In addition, I teach across the Secondary curriculum. offering English, History and French. Although my degree was primarily Classics, English and History are the subjects I have concentrated on in recent years, and students have benefitted from my teaching, feeling relaxed and confident with each subject, ensuring success. AQA and Edexcel are the boards with which I have recent experience. Learning, I believe, can only take place where clearly communicated ideas are fully understood by the learner; this is where I feel my strengths lie. I have had great success with students who have missed school due to health/anxiety/confidence issues - their grades going up by 2-3 levels.
