I have worked for fourteen years as a Primary School Teacher and taught in three challenging inner-city schools in the Sheffield area. My role as Phase Leader involved managing a team of six teachers and teaching assistants and I have also mentored PGSE teachers through their NQT year. My primary focus is to offer engaging and challenging experiences for all children, allowing them to develop self-confidence and a belief in their abilities. Within my role as SEN subject leader, I have significant experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and am highly experienced in planning and delivering lessons that cater to the needs of all children. I provide online tuition face to face (or via Zoom) and my sessions are highly personalised to allow children to make good progress through the curriculum.

I am an English Teacher with 17 years experience of teaching from 11-19. The bulk of my career has been spent teaching and writing curriculum for A level English Language and English Literature. I have also taught a range of exam boards and texts at GCSE level. I have spent time as an examiner for both GCSE and A level English Literature and have led Key Stages in these qualifications. I have experience teaching high ability and SEN students and I like to encourage learning and progression through a range of pedagogical techniques like scaffolds, quizzes and visual aids. In my own professional development, I am currently working on developing links between English Language and Literature through my teaching; this is to help students improve their working memory.
