I have spent the past decade teaching English at a number of state and independent secondary schools. I have experience at all levels of English teaching, with a long history of success at 11+ and 13+. I have previously been Head of Year 9 and am currently the teacher in charge of the Edexcel iGCSE English Language and Literature curriculum in my current post. Over the last five years, my GCSE and iGCSE classes have achieved an average of 90% grades 9-7. I am driven to help students build confidence in my students, empowering them to realise their potential and as part of my current role as Head of Academic Projects at a high-achieving London independent school, I am involved in several research projects aimed at developing an approach to teaching that fosters independent learning. I am a young and dynamic teacher, I try to make learning fun, memorable and relatable by getting to know my students and shaping the learning based on their interests and needs. Currently teaching English Language and English Literature in a private international school, prior to this I taught in a secondary school in South London. I am also employed by the AQA exam board as an examiner, marking exam scripts and so I receive up to date insight on exam techniques and how to secure top marks.
