I am an English Teacher with 16 years experience of teaching from 11-19. The bulk of my career has been spent teaching and writing curriculum for A level English Language and English Literature. I have also taught a range of exam boards and texts at GCSE level. I have spent time as an examiner for both GCSE and A level English Literature and have led Key Stages in these qualifications. I have experience teaching high ability and SEN students. I like to encourage learning and progression through a range of pedagogical techniques like scaffolds, quizzes and visual aids. In my own professional development, I am currently working on developing links between English Language and Literature through my teaching; this is to help students improve their working memory.

Experienced Teacher in Primary Education, Special Needs and PRUs, Data Analysis, Lesson Planning, Curriculum Development, and Teacher Training. Committed to education, especially with pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Education is ever-changing, I am committed to this and relish change. I want every child to have the opportunity to be the best they possibly can be. As a teacher of younger children for 17 years and an SEN teacher for 7 years, I have felt the increasing pressure within the classroom to get to know and help each individual child. It is a must in my eyes and one of the most important parts of teaching. You have to get to know the child in order to know how to teach them. Each child is not just a number and a level or grade to me!! They are fantastic individuals with different personalities and learning styles. Children also need confidence in order to learn, we only get this by building relationships.
