Just a few of our English teachers in Berkeley

Mrs Tammy G

I have been providing tuition in KS3 to GCSE English and KS2 11+ independent school exams for children with a wide variety of abilities and interests. I am also an AQA examiner of GCSE English Language with three years of marking experience and an excellent understanding of the Language and Literature exams. Students who struggle with English benefit from my teaching approach because we find strategies that work for them, and I have a good understanding of strategies that work for dyslexia, including phonics-based instruction. Moreover, all of my 11+ students to date have received places at Bristol Grammar, Redmaids' High, Clifton High, QEH and other independent schools in Bristol. I offer a free introductory session, which includes a thorough overview of my approach and an opportunity for us to get to know each other.

Mrs Julie F

I am passionate about teaching A Level English Literature. I am a qualified and very experienced teacher of English and English Literature, being the Teacher in charge of KS5 Literature for many years. I teach in a way that is tailored to individual need. I particularly enjoy engaging students with tricky Literature texts, especially Shakespeare. I am familiar with the AQA course and have previously taught 'Othello', 'Tess' and 'Death of a Salesman' (which is one of my favourite plays.) I have a proven track record of supporting students to achieve their full potential. Most recently, I supported a Y13 student to achieve the B grade that he needed for his chosen University course. His Mum said, "Thank you so much for your tuition and support during year 13. My son found the sessions useful, interesting and enjoyable and really valued your input." Furthermore, my son had Glandular Fever before his exams so I do know how tricky that can be for a student. I look forward to hearing from you.
