Tim P

London Waldorf Seminar Teaching Diploma. Steiner House, Baker St. MA with Merit in English, Birkbeck College, London. BA (Hons) 2:1, Humanities with Classical Studies, The Open University.

Member since 2021 Mr Tim P

I am currently tutoring English Language and Literature from KS2 to A Level and up to University standard. I qualified as a teacher with the London Waldorf Seminar in Baker Street and went on to teach English Language and Literature at GCSE and A Level in two Steiner Schools. I then worked for three years delivering literacy support to teenagers and adults taking their English GCSE at Newham College of Further Education. Furthermore, I have three years of experience privately tutoring students in English Language, Literature and Classics from GCSE to University level. I have particular experience taking students through the Edexcel and AQA GCSE and A Level English exams, and of getting students one or even two grades higher than expected. My ethos lies in balancing the more individualized approach to language found in Steiner education; eliciting the strengths of a student's individual response, and enabling them to use this to dig towards the deeper and finer answers that the examiners are looking for.

Subjects: English, Classical Civilisation, English Literature, English Language

Patricia G

BA (Hons) History with qualified teacher status from Warwick University (1990). Diploma in teaching pupils with Dyslexia, Canterbury Christchurch University (2011).

Member since 2020 Mrs Patricia G

I am a qualified teacher and graduated from Warwick University in 1990. I currently work for Kent Health Needs Education Service and teach pupils who are unable to attend school due to physical or mental health issues. I was a Primary school teacher for many years and gained experience in all year groups. I also have a Diploma in teaching pupils with Dyslexia. I have been doing 11 plus tuition for 15 years offering an individual programme for each pupil, based on their strengths and weaknesses. I begin preparing for the test in year 4 or 5 by ensuring sound knowledge in basic Maths and English. As the exam approaches, I offer mock tests to ensure pupils become confident with the material and exam techniques. Students will be sent an assessment to complete ahead of the first taster session, which is free. All 5 of my students who sat their 11 plus in October 2020 were successful in passing their Kent, Bexley and Medway tests.
