Miss Michelle O

I am a qualified maths and science teacher, I have taught up to A level so I have a thorough understanding of the curriculum. I have also taught GCSE level science in school. I have experience tutoring in mathematics for KS1, KS3 and KS4. I have experience preparing students for 11+ exams. I have tutored in maths and science for 6 years. I have taught KS3, GCSE and A level maths to a wide range of abilities, so I have experience supporting students that need extra help and stretching and challenging students. I use a diagnostic approach to tutoring preferring to asses areas and tailoring the tutoring session to my tutee. I come prepared with exam-style questions and worksheets. I also focus on ensuring that I am assessing progress throughout my sessions that there is evidence of progress being made for the students. This will enable me to move on to harder style problem solving that will get them used to the exam-style questions so it is not a shock when they do their GCSEs.

I am a qualified and experienced Science teacher with 25 years teaching experience. I have taught all sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) up to GCSE/ iGCSE level and A-level Physics (AQA, EDEXCEL and OCR exam boards). I have also taught the Physics components on the BTEC level 3 Applied Science course. As a GCSE and A-level Physics examiner, I know the importance of exam technique in helping students achieve a grade that is a true reflection of their ability. I have tutored individual students for almost 25 years and have seen how the one-to-one approach can cement what is being learned in school, help students overcome difficulties and also raise confidence. I have experience supporting students with SEN needs and was awarded Chartered Science Teacher Status by the Association of Science Education in 2017.
