I am an experienced Geography Teacher, Examiner and former Geography Lecturer (at Bristol University and UWE) who has also published geography-based revision material for Hodder Education and Zig-Zag. I have tutored pupils with a range of different ability levels and academic needs. I offer a bespoke service for every pupil with a range of revision resources, marked model answers and revision timetables. As an examiner for AQA & OCR, I also mark tutee work at the correct, examiner level (which gives tutees a sense of exactly what goals they can achieve). Feedback from one parent: "Claire is a highly committed tutor who worked wonders with my son who was studying A level geography. Claire significantly built his confidence and worked with him on exam techniques. I would say he improved by 2 grades with Claire’s help and we can’t thank her enough, I would highly recommend."

As a tutor, I enjoy helping young people (and parents!) break down barriers in their learning and build confidence. I work with young people from 6 years old to 20 years old. I`ve taught Maths and English from Year 3 all the way up to GCSE so understand the likely journey a young person will need to take in these subjects. However, not all routes to obtaining the GCSE, building a child`s confidence and/or addressing gaps in learning are the same. Every child`s journey is unique and I enjoy trying to find the strengths and address the weaknesses. I really emphasise to parents of children that I tutor that this is not `more school`. I keep sessions well-paced and interactive and we work together to find a way forward. Over the past few years, I have been coaching young people aged 15-21 who need help with future planning for employment, further or higher education. I have also been teaching sessions on mental health and wellbeing.
