I am a Director of Science, a role I have held for 5 years at a mainstream state secondary school. With 13 years of teaching experience in three very different mixed ability 11-18 schools I have extensive experience. My A-level specialism is chemistry, with my degree being a 2:1 in medicinal chemistry, and I can teach across all of the GCSE subjects at combined science level. I would prefer to only tutor chemistry at triple GCSE level. I currently teach the AQA courses but have previously taught OCR at both GCSE and A-level. I have tutoring experience at GCSE and A-level, all students having brought their grades up to at least an A grade/grade 8. I prefer online tutoring in the current climate and have a whiteboard at home to assist with this. I am currently on maternity leave and am returning to work part-time in January, so will have more opportunities in evenings than if I was in my role full time. My own A-level background is of A grades in seven subjects.

I work in the Science department of a Secondary Academy where I teach AQA GCSE science to a small group of SEN pupils, and mentor/coach GCSE science pupils to improve their subject knowledge and understanding, wider scientific skills and exam technique. Qualified, experienced and friendly Science Teacher, with 10 years experience teaching across the independent and state Sectors, I have tutored for the last three years with particular experience in A level, and I can teach Biology, Physics and Chemistry at Key Stage 3; and Biology through to GCSE, IGCSE and A level; across all major Exam Boards. I have successfully tutored students who have been home schooled for both GCSE and A level, and have continued to tutor online using Zoom throughout this year. I can also support preparations for Scholarship and School Entrance Exams. Sessions are tailored to the individual needs and ability of the students, with a variety of methods used to review topics, build confidence and to support and encourage the student`s independent revision. Exam technique is also practised with the application of the revised content to answer and work through exam questions together.
