I have over 25 years of experience as a qualified teacher, working mostly at primary level, although in the last few years I have been working as a supply teacher and have worked in secondary schools also. I have also worked as an exam invigilator for GCSE exams. I have experience of teaching year 6 and being involved in assisting children to work towards SATS, both at KS1 and KS2. Additionally, I have knowledge of various phonics programs, including letters and sounds and Read, Write Inc. and have incorporated both when teaching homeschooled children. Additionally, I have supported a number of students who have taken the 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. I have helped young people who are working towards their GCSE's, in Maths, English and the Sciences and have added qualifications in Functional Skills, which allows me to teach adults Maths and English also.
I have been a former headteacher at two private and two state schools and was a founding director of a Free School in Newcastle upon Tyne. I have experience teaching across the age ranges [KS2-5] and have particular expertise in Biology & Chemistry.
