How Do You Find a Good Tutor?05-Jan-2019
Tutoring is a large and important part of the UK's education economy (£1.6bn+), but as a sector seems to be hidden in the shadows. Estimates of the number of students being tutored and the number of tutors vary widely, as does the economic value of the sector and its educational impact.
Tuition in the UK is also largely an unregulated profession, with many tuition agencies and websites offering undergraduates, students, retired academics and others, as tutors. Most tuition agencies have evolved to become simply a website, listing varying tutor profiles … rather like a dating website where you hope that if your click on one that you get a good one!
Qualified teachers provide the highest quality home tuition
Our teachers are not just tutors, who support learning: they are professional teachers, who direct learning. Our teachers are subject specialists; experienced, energetic ... and up-to-date with an ever-changing curriculum, and the current requirements of exam boards and specifications.
Our teachers will provide academic challenge for children who do not find this at their school. Our teachers will offer academic support to those who have missed out on some of their learning, whether through illness; absence; a lack of understanding at school or a lack of effort. A short, direct and intensive course of lessons can have a profound impact on an individual’s performance and confidence.
Our teachers will prepare children for entry into Prep and Senior Schools, with School Entrance Examinations and Interview Practice, including 11+, 13+ and Common Entrance. A significant number of our teaching staff continue to teach in Independent and Grammar Schools and have excellent knowledge and experience of the process.
Our teachers will prepare young men and women for the world of university and work, with comprehensive interview practice and support for UCAS applications and professional careers advice.
Our teachers also teach a growing number of adults. Many clients wish to study through the daytime or at weekends, perhaps ambitious to learn a new language; better use their computer; study for a History A level or pick up their Maths again. Some want to pass an exam … others just want to keep on learning for their own enjoyment.
The quality of our tutor services can never exceed the quality of our teachers, so we are very fortunate to have the energy and enthusiasm of so many gifted and committed teachers now working with us as high quality tutors.
