University, Careers and Work Experience
At its heart, we know that education is a simple thing. Whoever we are, wherever we may be, we all need to experience the joy of achievement, our own and others' … and then we need great teachers.
University recruitment procedures are lengthy and, for the best universities, they are also very competitive. Our University Team has many years of experience in helping students gain admission to many of the highest ranked universities.
We can offer advice on the best choice of GCSE, A-Level or IB, to ensure that the right combination for a desired degree course is selected. Expert teaching to support all subjects at all levels can be arranged.
We can then:
- assist with the complete UCAS application process, including advice on drafting the personal statement
- provide specialist mentors to support applications for Oxford, Cambridge, Russell Group, USA and European Universities
- provide specialist mentors to support applications to study courses such as Medicine
- organise work experience and voluntary service through the summer periods
careers advice, interview practice and work experience
Our experienced and up-to-date career mentors can offer you individual career advice and support, to help you determine and achieve your ambitions.
Whether a university course, an apprenticeship, an internship, a gap year or straight into the workplace, we can help you gain a realistic insight into your chosen profession, support you in choosing the best route to get there and help to develop your personal and professional competencies, which will help set you apart from other applicants.
We have contacts with firms and professionals in Law, Medicine, Banking, Engineering and Architecture to provide a career development service to our clients.
We also can stage full mock assessment, psychometric testing and evaluation, group exercise training, one-to-one interview practice, one-to-one CV workshops, support with applications for graduate schemes and internships and with work experience placements.
Internships and work experience can be of paramount importance in a competitive job market where employers’ main complaint is not that applicants lack the necessary academic qualifications for the job, but that they often lack the necessary employability skills. These placements allows individuals to develop these high-demand skills by exposing them to real-life working environments, and allowing them to see how their studies can be practically applied. Work placements help motivate individuals, by providing them with hands-on experience, and provide useful evidence for inclusion in personal statements and CVs when applying for university courses or a job.
Typically we work with individuals from the age of sixteen upwards and often continue supporting them for many years.
